Update: After going 18 games with the same starting lineup, UCLA started freshman center Thomas Welsh against Oregon State in place of the injured Tony Parker, who did not make the trip with back spasms. The Bruins, who trailed by as much as 17 in the second half, slashed the Beavers’ lead to four but could not complete the comeback. UCLA still has not won a true road game this season. Now they’ll travel to Eugene, to play the high-scoring Ducks. Senior guard Joseph Young averages 19.4 points per game to lead the team.
