Antoine Wilson joined L.A. Times features editor Alice Short at the L.A. Times Festival of Books to talk about his novel "Panorama City," which features a naive, or slow, narrator named Oppen Porter. It's "A Southern California 'Candide' ... or 'Gilead' meets 'The Jerk,'" Wilson explains in his elevator pitch. Why Panorama City? "I'm mainly interested in writing about Los Angeles because I live here," Wilson says. "I wanted a piece of L.A. that hadn't been covered.
