Phoebus girls 3rd in regional track, Brown wins twice

HAMPTON — For the past four years, the final results of the Eastern Region meet have been predictable. When all was said and done, Chesapeake's Western Branch left the meet with the biggest trophies for both the boys and girls. The Bethel boys and Phoebus girls, victors in the Peninsula District meet last week, were the area's best bets to put a dent in the Western Branch machine this weekend. On the girls side, the contest was over before Saturday's events started. On the strength of Friday's field events, Western Branch built a comfortable lead on the first day, then extended the gap to as many as 80 points, before tapering off to win with 107.33 points.
