Police: Niles man killed in Evanston shooting survived 2012 attack

Evanston police said a Niles man killed in an early-morning shooting Monday in the North Shore suburb had survived a previous attack in 2012. Donte Blackwell, 23, of Niles was shot once in the torso Monday, police said, and was pronounced dead at Evanston Hospital. Another man was injuried in the same shooting, which took place about 1:20 a.m. near the 1800 bock of Dodge Avenue, police said. The second man, a 21-year-old from Evanston, was shot in the arm and leg, according to authorities.
