Last August, Canadian singer Celine Dion announced she was canceling her performance dates through March at the Colosseum at Caesars Las Vegas. She said she needed time to focus on her husband who had a cancerous tumor removed a year ago in December. Dion had her own troubles too. An inflammation in her throat muscles has kept her off the stage since July. Enter Mariah Carey, the pop star who comes to the rescue. Carey filled dates in May and July in the 4,296-seat auditorium that has housed Cher, Bette Midler and Shania Twain, who just ended her two-year residency in December.
