Republican gubernatorial candidate Tim Donnelly had $54,000 in cash on hand for his campaign as he entered the new year, according to reports he filed with the state Friday. Donnelly, an assemblyman from Twin Peaks, collected $374,000 last year, mostly in small sums, with only a handful of donations above $5,000. He reported spending $356,000 in 2013. The figures show the uphill battle facing Donnelly as he seeks California’s highest elective office. The man he hopes to take on in November, incumbent Democratic Gov.
