Wednesday's local multi-sport roundup: CNU great Schweers heads to Iceland to play pro basketball

Pro basketball: Chelsie Schweers, Christopher Newport's all-time leading scorer, announced via Twitter that she is leaving her position as a first-year head girls basketball coach at Hickory High to play pro ball in Iceland. The former Division III All-American sharpshooter previously played professionally in Greece and Australia. Candace Hudgins, who has coached the Hickory junior varsity, will replace her as Hickory's varsity coach, the Virginian-Pilot reported.
