Miami Marlins right-hander Jose Fernandez has a strained right biceps and is headed for the disabled list.
Manager Dan Jennings said Sunday that Fernandez had an MRI exam Saturday.
"We won't put him out there until we know he is 100%," Jennings said. "There is no need to push it or rush it."
Fernandez threw 76 pitches over five innings against the Atlanta Braves on Friday night and Saturday complained of shoulder stiffness.
He is 4-0 with a 2.30 earned-run average in seven starts this year. He had elbow ligament-replacement surgery in May 2014.
