Colorado Rockies put Justin Morneau on disabled list

The Colorado Rockies on Monday placed first baseman Justin Morneau on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained neck, a move retroactive to July 14. Morneau, hitting .312 with 13 home runs and a team-high 60 RBIs, hasn't played since taking part in the All-Star Home Run Derby on July 14 in Minneapolis. He was replaced in the lineup Monday by triple-A call-up Ben Paulsen, who made his major league debut against Washington. The Rockies also designated right-hander Jair Jurrjens for assignment.
