Twins first baseman Joe Mauer goes on disabled list with oblique strain

Minnesota Twins first baseman Joe Mauer went on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday after hurting his side in a game Tuesday against the Kansas City Royals. The Twins said Mauer has a right oblique strain. He apparently suffered the injury when he doubled in the fourth inning, a hit that ran his hitting streak to 12 games. Mauer had hit .320 with 13 runs batted in in his last 19 games. The Twins called up Chris Colabello from triple-A Rochester (N.Y.) to take his place on the roster. Colabello was hitting .275 with six home runs and 27 RBIs in 36 games with the Red Wings. Etc.
