Matt Carpenter will rejoin the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday at Cleveland after not playing in a weekend series at Pittsburgh because of dehydration and fatigue.
Carpenter is among the National League leaders with a .333 batting average and tied for the league lead with 14 doubles. He had been hitting .378 before a two-for-18, although both hits were home runs.
General Manager John Mozeliak said that Tyler Lyons will remain in the Cardinals rotation for now, filling the spot of sidelined ace Adam Wainwright.
