Cardinals strike early en route to 4-2 win over Braves

ST. LOUIS Thanks to some early offensive power, the St. Louis Cardinals held on for a 4-2 win over the Atlanta Braves on Friday night at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals pounced first, thanks to Randal Grichuk's two-run home run off Braves starter Manny Banuelos in the bottom of the second inning. It was Grichuk's 11th of the season, and his second consecutive game with a home run. Then after Matt Carpenter doubled in the third, Jhonny Peralta cracked an RBI single to send him home, giving the Cardinals a 3-0 lead.
