London West Hollywood adds Vivienne Westwood-designed mega-penthouse

Share

Vivienne Westwood, the doyenne of British punk fashion, has partnered with the London West Hollywood to create what’s being called the largest hotel suite in Los Angeles.

The London’s 11,000-square-foot penthouse, scheduled for completion May 18, includes a full kitchen, marble bathrooms and exclusive access to the 5,000-square-foot rooftop terrace that can accommodate 300 guests.

The tab will be $25,000 a night.

Although Westwood is known for such fashion signatures as razor blades, safety pins and outrageous riffs on historical costumes, the two-bedroom suite reflects a cool, modern air with sleek white lounges, mirror-backed bookcases and pale blue and teal tones.

The collaboration with Richmond design incorporates her iconic squiggle, Union Jack and tartan patterns into custom-woven rugs, pillows and tapestries.

Scarves selected from 30 years of seminal Westwood collections and campaigns are framed and displayed throughout the 6,000-square-foot suite.

Created with an eye toward entertaining and the entertainment industry, the suite also offers occupants exclusive perks such as a one-hour private shopping session at the Vivienne Westwood store in West Hollywood, a discount on purchases and his and her giftbags upon check-in.

Three new Metropolitan guest suites also are slated to open on the hotel’s second floor, completing the London’s $25-million renovation that also included a 110-seat screening room, junket suites and a gym -- all the necessities of life in L.A.
