Away from home and want to watch Netflix on your hotel TV? Now you can

Share

If you’re traveling and worried you won’t be able to watch the first episode Friday of Season 3 of “Orange Is the New Black” on Netflix, now you can, if you’re staying at some Marriott Hotels.

Guests can use an app on their hotel TV to access their Netflix account (or subscribe) to watch new episodes of “Orange” starting Friday as well as any of Netflix’s other favorite TV shows and movie offerings.

Sure, you could always use your laptop or tablet to access Netflix. But the app allows you to watch on your room’s wide-screen TV instead of a teensy screen.

Marriott says it is the first hotel brand to add personal Netflix access to its guest-room amenities. It says guests staying more than one day will sign in to Netflix only once and that any of their Netflix information on the TV would be wiped clean when they check out.

The Netflix option is available at Marriotts on New York’s East Side and in San Jose; Princeton, N.J.; Newport, R.I.; Dallas/Ft. Worth (Marriott Solana) and Bethesda, Md.

Six more hotels will add the TV app this summer, including San Francisco Marriott Marquis and the Anaheim Marriott.

The hotel brand says it will roll the option out to 100 sites by the end of this year and nearly 300 hotels in the U.S. by the end of 2016.
