Where’s everyone going in 2015? Orlando is top pick, Priceline says

Orlando, Fla., home to Walt Disney World and other theme parks, will be the most popular U.S. travel destination for 2015, according to hotel bookings made on Priceline. Los Angeles comes in at No. 11, and ranks No. 15 as a top New Year’s destination too.

The online travel retailer looked at U.S. destinations with the highest number of hotel bookings made for the coming year, as of mid-October. For California, Orange County, Palm Springs, San Francisco and San Diego also made the top 20 list for 2015.

Here’s the list and Priceline’s average daily hotel price for each location:

1. Orlando, $124
2. Las Vegas, $113
3. New Orleans, $220
4. Miami, $183
5. Fort Lauderdale, Fla., $153
6. New York City, $211
7. Orange County, Calif., $118
8. Boston, $275
9. Atlanta, $144
10. Oahu, $193
11. Los Angeles, $161
12. Palm Springs, $185
13. San Francisco, $190
14. Puerto Rico, $191
15. Chicago, $153
16. San Diego, $156
17. Phoenix, $146
18. San Antonio, $118
19. Maui $227
20. Dallas, $129

As for ringing in the New Year, expect crowds at these top five cities:

1. Las Vegas
2. New York City
3. Miami
4. New Orleans
5 Orlando

If you’re looking for cheap deals next year, Travelzoo’s Wow Deal Destinations for 2015 are Brazil, cruising in Asia, Puerto Rico, the Texas Hill Country and Dubai.

“The destinations are an eclectic mix but they all have a very strong common theme: increased infrastructure and competition,” a Travelzoo statement says. “This naturally means significant deals for travelers.”

Lonely Planet’s Best Value Destinations for 2015 points to these global places where you get a “bang for your buck and pizzazz for your pound”:
