Newly renovated Laguna Beach House is a sweet spot for surfer crowd

Laguna Beach House has emerged from a recent $1.5-million renovation with design elements that are all about the surf, sand and the California outdoor lifestyle.

There are just 36 rooms at what was formerly the Laguna Cliffs Inn at 475 N. Pacific Coast Highway in Laguna Beach. It’s within walking distance of the ocean and Heisler Park, and near the Laguna Art Museum too.

The hotel remained open during the renovation, closing half the rooms for each phase.

Surfers will love the redo, which has a fresh feel. Surfboards mounted over beds are the preferred works of art (you can buy surfboards at the hotel too) in each room.

Skateboards (made by custom surfboard maker Gordon and Smith) serve as towel racks, and Laguna Beach destination posters hang in each room.

The hotel has a new pool deck and a fire pit where you can wind down at night. The daily surf reports appear on a chalkboard in the lobby, and guests are invited to sip wine each evening.

The hotel is owned and operated by Classic Hotels & Resorts, which also owns the Inn at Laguna Beach a few blocks away.

Prices start at $197 a night, climbing to $326 during peak summer season.
