National park tips: Paul Revere had 16 kids. March on this Boston trail to see his home

Deal: Children fly free with each L.A.-to-Tahiti adult ticket purchased

Air Tahiti Nui has a winter-to-spring special: Kids fly free with purchased adult tickets.

If you're thinking of a Tahiti vacation next year for the family, here's a deal that may fit nicely into those plans. Air Tahiti Nui offers parents a chance to take along kids — for free. Yep, that means free round-trip airfares from Los Angeles to Tahiti for anyone 15 or younger.

The deal: The Tahiti Family Special to the French Polynesian island works like this: Buy one round-trip adult airfare that costs $1,672 or more and you score one free round-trip seat for a child. Parents, grandparents, anyone can get in on this one-plus-one-kid offer.

Air Tahiti Nui runs nonstop flights between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Papeete, Tahiti (PPT).

The deal is on during Tahiti's low season, which means warmer temperatures (high 80s) and more rain, particularly January through March. But it also means you should be able to find good deals on hotels and activities for your stay.

When: Tickets must be purchased between now and April 30 for stays between Jan. 15 and June 21. The offer is based on availability.

Tested: I found availability leaving Los Angeles on Jan. 18 and returning Jan. 26. The total for two adults and two children came to $3,460. The cost includes an estimated $63 in taxes for each child's ticket.

While you can find the details of this deal online, I advise calling and speaking with an airline agent to make a reservation.
