Valentine’s Day: $100,000 luxe hotel stays that scream ‘I love you’

If you can’t put a price on love, then why not spend a ridiculous amount of money for an over-the-top Valentine’s Day hotel package? With these Southern California and New York City picks, $10,000 doesn’t even get you in the game. Don’t worry about taking out that line of credit from the bank; the experience at these luxury hotels will make it all worth it.

$100,000: Don’t even think about the Proposal of the Century package at the Langham Huntington (1401 S. Oak Knoll St., Pasadena) if you aren’t ready to pop the question. Here’s how it works: You take the field at the Rose Bowl, invite up to 40 friends and family to watch, see the words “Marry Me” blink on the message board while the 40-piece Pasadena Symphony Orchestra performs. Then ask -- and, if you can hear your betrothed’s “yes” over the music -- pull out the 2.5-carat diamond ring. All this and two nights in the hotel’s Tournament of Roses Presidential Suite, Champagne, roses, you name it. Whew, thank goodness it’s available until the end of the year, just in case Valentine’s Day is booked. Price: $100,000 for two nights.

$100,000: The New York Palace (455 Madison Ave., N.Y.) offers two nights (Feb. 14 and 15) in its 5,000-square-foot opulent Jewel Suite with private outdoor spa. It was created by jewelry designer Martin Katz, so you must know what’s coming next: a private consultation with Katz, who will design a custom piece of diamond jewelry. Who could eat the six-course tasting dinner with thoughts of diamonds in the air? Price: $50,000 per night.

$15,300: Stay Feb. 14 and 15 in a penthouse suite at Trump SoHo New York (264 Spring St., N.Y.) and immerse you and your Valentine in the good life, Manhattan style. Hop in a Mercedes sedan and be driven to Wollman Rink in Central Park for a day of ice skating while your own string quartet plays. Then it’s back to the hotel for a couple’s massage and Moroccan hammam bath. Your parting gift: bubble drop diamond earrings designed by Ivanka Trump. Price: $7,650 per night, excluding tax and fees.

$11,000: Only one couple can reserve this Valentine’s Day extravaganza from the InterContinental Los Angeles (2151 Avenue of the Stars, Century City). Savor a private six-course dinner for two atop the hotel’s helipad on the 18th floor and the next day go on a half-hour helicopter tour of Los Angeles -- right from the hotel. Sleep in the presidential suite, enjoy a couple’s spa treatment, be served breakfast in bed and there’s more too. Cheapskates can pay $8,000 without the helicopter tour. Price: $11,000 for one night (Feb. 14).
