The many joys of Claremont

I have lived in Claremont for more than 30 years, and I really loved the article highlighting our town [“One Class Act,” by Ryan Ritchie, March 30]. The best part about Claremont is that every time we venture to the Village for an evening out, we run into people we know. It often ends up with us having a drink with friends we had not even planned to meet — such a treat. Another great place is the Folk Music Center on Yale. It is owned by musician Ben Harper, who often does concerts in a small theater at the colleges. Claremont is an amazing place.

Doc Holliday’s final resting place

Regarding “Ma Nature Runs a Spa,” by David Kelly, March 23: Glenwood Springs, Colo., is also the final resting place of one notorious John Henry “Doc” Holliday. He was a participant in the famous gunfight at the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Ariz., with Wyatt Earp. He spent his dying days at the Hotel Glenwood.

Cramped quarters for fliers

I read an article recently about how United is going to crack down more on people’s carry-on baggage. I know that for years airlines have let people board planes with too many or oversized bags, so it is a real problem. But I haven’t heard anyone talk about what happens as airlines shrink the seats and get more people onto the planes. Will there be enough storage if everyone brings a regulation-sized carry-on on board? It seems as if there’s barely room already for my purse and the definitely undersized bag that I carry with me.

I’m much more concerned about how cramped the people are than the bags, and it’s just getting worse.
