Getting there
From LAX, Air Tahiti Nui, Czech Airlines, Swiss, Air France, Lufthansa and British Airways have connecting flights (change of plane) to Prague. Restricted round-trip fares begin at $1,244.

By train, the journey to Olomouc takes three hours. Ten trains a day leave from Prague’s main station, Hlavni Nadrazi. Round-trip second-class fare, $12.

Cafe Restaurant Caesar, Town Hall, Horni Namesti; 522-9287. A bustling place in the cellar of Town Hall, with vaulted Gothic ceilings. Excellent pastas and thin-crust pizzas. Entrees $6-$15.

Pod Limpou, 43 Dolni Namesti; 522-1500. Serves hearty pub food in a stone cellar on Lower Square. Entrees $4-$12.

Kavarna Kraska Dne, 38 Panska; 522-2210. Hot beverages $1-$2, assorted pastries and sandwiches $1-$3. A large cup of hot chocolate and traditional honey cake for two, $5.
