Hawaii: Here’s what $50,000 buys at Mauna Kea hotel on the Big Island
The oldest resort on the Big Island’s Kohala Coast is inviting you to live like royalty as the hotel celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2015. All you need is $50,000 to foot the bill.
The Golden Anniversary Package at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel on Hawaii will have guests living in the lap of luxury for five nights. The $50K price tag includes first-class airfare from the mainland followed by transfer to the hotel by private helicopter.
Once at the resort, guests will be pampered in a top-floor suite with expansive coastal views.
The package also includes a variety of exclusive activities such as stargazing under the dome at the W.M. Keck Observatory perched near the summit of Mauna Kea, the 13,796-foot mountain of the same name as the hotel.
The special offer is available Jan. 4-Dec. 19, 2015. A dedicated phone line, (844) 550-5051, has been set up for those wanting additional information or reservations.
For visitors with less disposable income, the resort will have other special offers each quarter of 2015. From early January through March, unlimited golf and tennis will be available for $150 a day, with a three-night minimum stay.

Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, about 27 miles north of Kona International Airport, welcomed its first guests in July 1965. It was founded by business tycoon and respected conservationist Laurance Rockefeller.
