Carlos Mencia brings the laughs for Fourth of July weekend in Las Vegas

Carlos Mencia won the Latin version of 'Star Search' to catapult his career

Get set for laughs over the Fourth of July weekend in Las Vegas. Comedy star Carlos Mencia brings his stand-up act to The Orleans Showroom on July 3 and 4.

The comedian got his start doing stand-up on amateur nights at the Los Angeles comedy club the Laugh Factory. He was later showcased at The Comedy Store and became a nightly regular.

After conquering the L.A comedy circuit, Mencia was named International Comedy Grand Champion on “Buscando Estrellas,” the Latino version of “Star Search.”

By 2002, he received a CableACE Award nomination for Best Stand-Up Comedy Special for his HBO special and then went on to be featured on “Comedy Central Presents.”

His show, “Mind of Mencia,” debuted on Comedy Central and was an instant hit. It became one of the network's most popular shows, averaging about 1.5 million total viewers.

Comedy Central signed Mencia back for his own original stand-up special, “Carlos Mencia: No Strings Attached.” The special was the first Comedy Central stand-up special DVD to achieve platinum sales status.

Mencia starred opposite Ben Stiller and Michelle Monaghan in the Farrelly Brothers’ 2007 feature film “The Heartbreak Kid.”

Every holiday season since 2007, Mencia goes on a USO Tour to the Persian Gulf to entertain the troops serving overseas.

Tickets start at $29.95.
