A 19-year-old from Britain who apparently joined the Al Qaeda-affiliated militant group the Nusra Front was believed killed in Syria during recent airstrikes by U.S. and allied Arab nations, according to news reports.

Ibrahim Kamara of England reportedly traveled to Syria in February using a passport he’d stolen from his brother. He was believed killed in Aleppo during airstrikes this week, and other militants fighting in Syria posted what appeared to be a photograph of his body on Facebook.

Britain’s Foreign Office said Thursday that it was aware of reports of a British national being killed fighting in Syria, but it could not verify them.

Although his death was unconfirmed, Kamara’s mother, a charity worker in Brighton, England, said she believes her son is dead.

“I don’t want to see the photo of him being dead. I don’t want any details,” Khadijah Kamara told the BBC. “I’m just saying whoever is responsible [for] brainwashing my son to take these kind of measures to go there, Allah will judge between me and them on the day of judgment.”

She said she doesn’t know who radicalized her son, who reportedly fought under the name Khalil Britani.
