More helicopters for Malibu?

Just outside Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park, residents of the Montecito Condominiums in Portola Hills packed their belongings and prepared to voluntarily evacuate. They questioned why only a few helicopters were dousing the nearby flames, saying more appeared to have been dispatched to the blaze in Malibu.

‘I just want more helicopters,’ said Lori Minchey, 47, who has lived in the complex for 15 years. ‘They need air support to stop this.’

Jennifer Morgan, 39, packed her cats and lizards into carriers and was seeking a hotel that accepted pets.

‘We’re all wondering about the future of our homes,’ she said.
