Attention Michael J. Fox fans: The “Family Ties” and “Spin City” veteran is returning to the small screen for a guest spot on the upcoming season of “The Good Wife.”
Fox will play a “smart, cynical lawyer” -- going up against Julianna Margulies’ character in a class-action suit -- who’s willing to use anything in court, including symptoms of his neurological condition, to create sympathy for his pharmaceutical-company client, CBS said Friday.
The five-time Emmy winner has been battling Parkinson’s disease for years, going public about it in 1998 after his diagnosis in 1991. His charity, the Michael J. Fox Foundation, focuses on “closing the gap between research and practical treatments” related to Parkinson’s.
Fox did a five-episode “Rescue Me” stretch in 2009, playing a drug-abusing paraplegic in the Denis Leary series.
“It’s a measure of how screwed up they are that they would hire me to play a paralyzed guy,” Fox told USA Today at the time. “I’m the opposite of a paralyzed guy. One of the reasons I don’t act that much now is that my first job is to act like I’m not dealing with the things I’m dealing with.”
