‘Fantasia for Real’ returns Sunday, and if the first episode is any indication, things are going to be more than ‘real’ in the VH1 show’s second season.

The show, which continues to follow ‘American Idol’ champ Fantasia Barrino as she launches her third album, raises her daughter and supports her entire family, also includes the sad turn of events last month that led to her attempting to take her life.

The first episode is mostly about Fantasia and her singing career, including her first performance in London. But there is a telling scene between the artist, her mother and her now famous Aunt Bunny, in which they confront Fantasia about tabloid stories about her being involved with a married man and she maintains that he’s just a ‘friend’ and he’s ‘separated.’

Bunny’s ‘Girrrrrrl, please’ resonates loudly. The public now knows that the relationship blew up when the man’s wife filed for divorce this summer and accused Fantasia of breaking up her marriage -- which, in turn, led to intense media coverage and the 26-year-old singer breaking down. The Times’ request for an interview about how VH1 and the producers handled the delicate subject matter was declined.

‘We don’t typically comment on major storylines before they air and the network would rather stay focused on reviewing the first episode rather than the season overall at this time,’ the network said in a statement.

But as the trailer below indicates, much of Fantasia’s personal troubles will be documented in the series this season, which makes Aunt Bunny’s warnings to her favorite niece, ‘You can lose your life foolin’ with some foolishness,’ all the more heartbreaking to hear.

To be sure, the clips are as unnerving as they are compelling. It’s hard to imagine the season won’t follow suit.

The show airs at 10 p.m.
