There was some mystery attached to the appearance of former Ultimate Fighting Championships light-heavyweight title holder Tito Ortiz at a Wednesday news conference in advance of the Jan. 24 Affliction ‘Day of Reckoning’ card at Honda Center.

Ortiz promised to make an announcement, and that he did, revealing that he’ll serve as a color commentator for the $44.95 pay-per-view show headlined by the heavyweight fight between Fedor Emelianenko and former UFC heavyweight champ Andrei Arlovski.

Ortiz won’t be fighting at least until next year because he’s recovering from back surgery. It is yet to be determined if he’ll join the Affliction shows that count his former ‘Apprentice’ boss Donald Trump as an investor, or if he’ll make an unlikely return to UFC, where he had an adversarial relationship with company president Dana White.

At any rate, Ortize discussed his future during a discussion I captured today on video (above).
