UCLA tight ends Ryan Moya and Logan Paulsen were named to the preseason watch list for the John Mackey Award, annually given to the nation’s top tight end. The award will be announced on Dec. 10.

Moya, a 6-foot-3, 243-pound redshirt senior from El Dorado Hills, led Pac-10 tight ends with 38 receptions last season. He was named second-team All-Pac-10 by the coaches and finished with 364 receiving yards, good for fourth on the team, and three touchdowns.

Paulsen, a 6-5, 264-pound redshirt senior from West Hills, fractured his right foot in last year’s season opener against Tennessee and missed the rest of the season. He started every game in 2006 and 2007 and had a combined 39 catches for 475 yards and one touchdown in those seasons. This is the third time Paulsen has made the Mackey watch list.

The last Bruin to win the award was Marcedes Lewis (2005), who is now with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Missouri’s Chase Coffman, now with the Cincinnati Bengals, won the award last year.
