Updated 1:36 p.m.: UCLA lands another big recruit. La Cañada St. Francis safety Dietrich Riley, the object of a tug-of-war between USC and UCLA, announced he will sign with UCLA, giving the Bruins the ninth-ranked safety nationally according to Rivals.com.

Riley has been a hot internet topic on UCLA and USC websites, as he waffled between the two universities.

“Coach [Rick] Neuheisel has been recruiting me since Day One,’ Riley said on ESPN. “I was a silent commit to USC on Dec. 18. I was committed to Pete Carroll. I called Coach Neuheisel and told him that. He thanked me and said, ‘I’m going to recruit you even harder.’ ”

His goals?

‘I want to go in there and win the Pacific 10 Conference, I want to be the freshman of the year, I want to win a national championship,’ Riley said.
