George Haines, the general manager at Santa Anita, has been named president of the Arcadia track, replacing Ron Charles, who resigned.

Haines has been working at Santa Anita since he was 18 and started in the money room. He’s now 55.

‘I’m a lifer,’ he said.

Haines inherits a difficult task ahead, with the company that owns Santa Anita, MI Developments, trying to formulate a plan to go forward and select a track surface.
