You’ve got the fancy TV. Now where’s the fancy programming?

Time Warner Cable customers: Alana Semuels confirmed your suspicions. You do indeed get fewer high-definition channels than most other big markets. The entertainment industry is centered in Los Angeles, but basic-cable subscribers here get a measly 16 HD channels versus 38 in San Antonio, 23 in San Diego and Dallas and 22 in New York. Charlotte, N.C., gets more, for Pete’s sake!
