Jonathon Apollo is getting the most out of his touches this season. The senior wide receiver from Menifee Paloma Valley has caught six passes for 205 yards -- a 34.2 average -- and scored four touchdowns.

In a 41-14 victory over Riverside King last Friday, he scored on all three of his receptions, totaling 131 yards. It seems the only thing he isn’t receiving is props.

Paloma Valley Coach Bert Esposito was disappointed to open the local paper Saturday morning and not find Apollo among the area’s top performers.

‘A guy has a career day and nobody hears about it,’ Esposito said.

Just as noteworthy for Paloma Valley, considering what I’ve seen from kickers this season, was a four-field goal performance by Michael Buckel, including one from 50 yards.

Both will need steady hands and feet Friday night, when the Wildcats (1-1) travel to Murrieta Valley (1-2).
