I know. It happens all the time, right? Well, actually, I’m guessing it never does. This is probably the first recorded fight among fans during a high school volleyball match. And I thought the Chivas-Galaxy rivalry was bad.

During last night’s match between Bonita and San Dimas, a fight broke out among fans in the stands (Photo credit: The SGVT). The match, a hotly contested contest between two of the top 10 teams in the CIF-SS Division III-A rankings, also had lots of action on the court, where No. 4 Bonita beat No. 7 San Dimas in a five-game thriller. The Bearcats scored the last 11 points to win.

I’ve put in a call to Bonita and San Dimas officials for comment about the fight, and I’m just waiting to hear back from somebody. This is bound to be an ongoing to story, so stay tuned and I’ll try to get you the information as it becomes available. For now, if you want to read about the game, check out the SGVT. If you want to read what people are saying about the fight, check out the SGVT blog.

The teams don’t meet again during the regular season, but the schools’ football teams will play each other in Week 5. San Dimas is 3-0 and Bonita is 1-2.

UPDATE, 3:52 p.m.: I know I promised you guys an update, but nothing to report so far. Calls to officials from both school have no been returned. I’m also waiting to hear back from the spokesperson at the school’s district office. Sit tight, we will get to the bottom of this.
