Palos Verdes’ Venning outduels Santa Monica’s Katz

I don’t know if senior Marc Venning is on anybody’s recruiting radar, but if the Palos Verdes quarterback has more games like he had Friday against Santa Monica, colleges will be taking plenty of notice.

Venning threw for 261 yards and three touchdowns in the Sea Kings’ 34-20 victory over Santa Monica in a Western Division first-round game at Mira Costa High.

Venning, 6-2 and 195 pounds, put up better numbers than his counterpart, Oregon State-bound Ryan Katz, who threw for 188 yards and two touchdowns.
