Palisades (24-8), the playoff’s top seeded team, got to the title game by defeating San Pedro in the semifinals, 25-20, 25-15, 25-19. The Dolphins’ win denied San Pedro a fourth consecutive trip to the finals.

Venice (17-3-1), the second seeded team, needed a big comeback against defending champion Taft to reach the final. The Gondoliers lost the first two games in their semifinal match 20-25 and 23-25, and trailed 16-9 in the third game before rallying to win, 27-25, 25-21 and 15-13.

Also Saturday at Occidental, the Invitational Division championship math between No. 16 Cleveland and No. 14 Verdugo Hills will take place at 11 a.m., followed by the Small Schools title match at 2 p.m. between No. 1 Northridge and No. 2 Elizabeth.
