Temecula Valley picks Santa Margarita’s Maxwell as football coach

Mike Maxwell, the offensive coordinator at Santa Margarita, is returning to Temecula Valley to become its football coach.
Maxwell was named coach on Wednesday. He played quarterback at Temecula Valley in 1988.
He replaces Bud Kane, who resigned last November and was Temecula Valley’s coach since the school opened in 1985. Kane’s teams won Southern Section championships in 1990 and 1991.
