‘This is a dynasty and we never want it to end.’

El Camino Real girls’ soccer team has won the last seven consecutive City Section championships, or, to put it in another way, the Conquistadors have conquered every championship this century.

Senior midfielder Katie Etcher told the Times last year that Conquistadors were a dynasty that didn’t have an end in sight. At least not if she could help it.

Etcher and her teammates are back in the finals again, this time in search or championship numero ocho. The top seed Conquistadors (12-8-2) beat Cleveland in the semis today and will play No. 3 San Pedro in the finals Saturday at Contreras High at 3 p.m.

The girls are not the only team from El Camino Real playing on Saturday. The boys team will be playing in the boys City Section championship game. The No. 19 Conquistadors beat No. 2 Taft, in penalty kicks on Wednesday, in the semis and will play No. 1 Wilmington Banning on Saturday, also at Contreras High, at 6 p.m.
