All I know is, I’m glad Campbell Hall Coach Terry Kelly lost all that weight because it’s tough to see around him here at courtside at the Division IV state championship between the Vikings and Albany St. Mary’s at Arco Arena in Sacramento. I can see the scoreboard at least, and it tells me Campbell Hall is winning, 17-15, after the first quarter, but the Vikings might not be on top for long.

UCLA-bound guard Jrue Holiday picked up his second foul with 1 minute 19 seconds remaining in the opening quarter, leaving a bunch of no-names to pick up the slack while he cools his Adidas on the bench.

At least Holiday’s not alone. Dallas Rutherford and Keegan Hornbuckle also have two fouls in the first quarter. Shouldn’t the Southern Section pay to fly its own refs up here?

Campbell Hall looked shaky from the start, falling behind, 7-3, courtesy of two-handed dunk by UC Santa Barbara-bound Will Brew.

Holiday took his first shot about three minutes into the game and scored on a layup. Hornbuckle then had a nice tip in to tie the score, 9-9, and Rutherford hit a three with two minutes left to give Campbell Hall a 16-13 lead. Then came those second fouls.
