West Torrance baseball Coach Juan Cueva called Kyle Petter’s curveball “a 12-six.”

That’s dugout-speak for the way an ultra-tight curve will break from 12 o’clock down to six o’clock. Still don’t get it? Just look at the face of a clock and maybe you will.

In other words, Petter’s curveball plunges like a speeding elevator without any brakes –- straight down. The kid’s fastball has some life, too, kissing 91 mph on the gun.

Petter has one other glorious attribute -– his left arm.

“When you get a lefty like Kyle, it’s ridiculous,” Cueva said. “The pro scouts are all over him. They absolutely drool.”

Petter has been drool-worthy with a 3-0 record and 37 strikeouts in 19 innings for the Warriors (6-2). He’s committed to Cal State Fullerton -- if he doesn’t turn pro.
