For someone who hasn’t pitched for an extended period since March, Ray Hanson of Long Beach Wilson is showing why Arizona State has signed him.

Hanson, coming back from a broken bone in his hand, has given up one hit and struck out seven in four innings of the Southern Section-Toyota Division I semifinal against Norco on Tuesday night at UC Riverside. He gave up consecutive walks to Matt Hobgood and Jake Clark in the fourth but came back to record consecutive strikeouts.
