Baseball: Norco leaves bases loaded at UC Riverside

In what might have been Norco’s last big opportunity, the Cougars left the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth inning and failed to score. Long Beach Wilson has a 5-1 lead going into the sixth inning of the Southern Section-Toyota Division I semifinal Tuesday night at UC Riverside.

Matt Hobgood of Norco got his second hit of the game -- the only two hits for the Cougars. The bases were loaded with two outs when Jake Clark took a called third strike. It was the ninth strikeout for Wilson’s Ray Hanson.

And more bad news for Norco: Aaron Hicks is warming up to pitch in relief of Hanson.
