Visiting La Serna took its first lead of the game in the sixth inning, but it could have been worse for top-seeded Crescenta Valley. Much worse.

The Lancers went up, 3-2, after a single by Brooke Putich drove in Danielle Cabrera, but poor base-running kept the score from getting out of hand (I’ll explain later).

La Serna pitcher Holly Consterdine didn’t give up a run in the bottom of the inning and had two strikeouts to run her total to 10.

With the seventh about to start, La Serna has a 3-2 lead on unbeaten Crescenta Valley in a Southern Section-Toyota Division III semifinal.
