The inning should have been over.

With two outs, Simi Valley’s Tawny Reeger hit what appeared to be an easy pop up to first base in the bottom of the fourth inning of Tuesday’s Southern Section-Toyota Division I semifinal game against Norco. Then things got interesting.

Kim Pena and Jordan Emanuele had a mix up, Pena ran in to Reeger, attempting to reach first base, and the ball dropped. Two batters later, Allison Mapes delivered a single, scoring Reeger to give the top-seeded Pioneers a 1-0 lead heading in to the top of the fifth.

FYI: Valencia is leading Corona Santiago, 3-1, in the top of the sixth in the other Division I semi.
