It took 12 innings and nearly four hours, but Chatsworth gave Coach Tom Meusborn his 500th career victory on Thursday with a 7-2 victory over El Camino Real.

The Chancellors (9-1, 2-0) scored five runs in the top of the 12th, keyed by a bases-loaded walk and bases-loaded hit batter. Andy Weissberg also had a two-run double.

Andrew Klausmeier threw seven shutout innings of relief to pick up the victory, striking out six.

El Camino Real unveiled a star of the future in sophomore Jose Cardona, who limited the Chancellors to two runs and four hits in seven innings while striking out six.

Sophomore Aaron Brown sent the game into extra innings with a two-strike, two-out RBI single in the top of the seventh to tie the game for Chatsworth.

Neither team committed an error.

‘It was exciting,’ Meusborn said.

As for his coaching milestone, Meusborn added, ‘Five hundred just makes me sound old.’
