Baseball: El Toro loses standout pitcher for the season

Chad Thompson, a 6-foot-7 standout pitcher for Lake Forest El Toro, has a torn ligament in his right elbow and will undergo Tommy John surgery next month.

Thompson has signed with Arizona State and was expected to be drafted in June. It’s a tough loss for the Chargers (16-4), but they still have lots of pitching depth and remain the favorite to win Southern Section Division II.
