Boys’ basketball: Obasi’s basket wins it for West over the East

Prince Obasi of Reseda Cleveland made a basket with three seconds left in the second overtime to give the West a 96-95 victory over the East in the Battle of the Valley All-Star basketball game at Cal State Northridge. He was named the game MVP.

Terran Carter of Taft scored 21 points, Michael Williams of Taft had 18 points and Evan Smith of Calabasas scored 15 points for the West. Bak Bak, a 6-foot-10 center from Sun Valley Village Christian, had 20 points and seven dunks for the East.

In the girls’ game, the East won, 76-67, but Chatsworth’s Gennifer Brandon was named the MVP from the West. She had 25 points.

The boys’ game is scheduled to air on LA36 Sunday at 10 p.m., with the girls’ game at 8 p.m.
