Baseball: Cardona comes through for ECR

All-City pitcher Jose Cardona threw five solid innings to lift Woodland Hills El Camino Real past North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake, 5-3, in the Valley Invitational Baseball League playoffs Saturday.

El Camino Real advances to Monday’s quarterfinals and will face top-seeded Valencia West Ranch, which outlasted St. Francis, 14-13.

Christian Lopez threw a complete game and also contributed an RBI double in Chatsworth’s 11-5 victory over Newhall Hart. Chatsworth will play host to Agoura in Monday’s quarterfinals.

Madison Dang allowed one run in six innings and Ryon Healy hit a three-run home run in Encino Crespi’s 5-1 victory over Saugus. It sets up the best quarterfinal matchup, with the Celts taking on Valencia at Valley College. Valencia defeated Calabasas, 4-1.
