Baseball: Three home runs for Valencia sophomore

Christian who? Valencia was supposed to be hurting when Christian Lopes transferred to Huntington Beach Edison, but the Vikings still have sophomore infielder Trey Williams, who hit three home runs Wednesday to lift Valencia past host West Ranch, 15-5, in a Foothill League game.

Williams had a two-run home run, a three-run home run and a solo home run. Sophomore Josh Heinz hit two home runs for West Ranch.

Golden Valley defeated Saugus, 6-5, in the Foothill League, with freshmen Riley Sherwood and Billy Fredrick hitting consecutive home runs in the seventh. Canyon Country Canyon got its first league victory with a 2-0 win over Hart. Icezack Flemming threw a one-hitter.

In the Trinity League, Bellflower St. John Bosco defeated Santa Margarita, 14-5. The Braves got 16 hits, led by Ryan Strachan, who had four hits and four RBIs. Koby Gauna added three hits. Orange Lutheran (16-5, 7-3) pulled into a tie for first place with Santa Ana Mater Dei and Anaheim Servite after a 2-1 victory over JSerra.

In the Suburban League, La Mirada (15-8, 6-1) defeated Lakewood Mayfair, 10-3. Garrin Haile had two hits and three RBI in a 10-run fifth inning.

In the Marmonte League, first-place Simi Valley Royal defeated Westlake, 5-3, behind UC Irvine-bound Tyler Abbott. Christian Yelich hit a home run for Westlake. Calabasas defeated Simi Valley, 8-4. Travis Cassidy threw a complete game. Jacob Camhi had two doubles and a triple and Kevin Khalili had three hits.

In a nonleague game, West Hills Chaminade defeated Fillmore, 15-4. Brandon Rapoport had two hits and three RBIs. Dylan Delaney added three hits.
