Baseball: Bonita’s Garza flirts with no-hitter, settles for 12th win

Junior pitcher Justin Garza of La Verne Bonita keeps winning and keeps shutting down opponents. He improved to 12-0 on Friday, allowing no hits for 6 1/3 innings before settling for a two-hitter in Bonita’s 10-0 victory over Bell Gardens. He struck out 10.

Quartz Hill defeated Downey Warren, 15-3. Jack Sheely went four for four with three doubles and five RBIs.

In Division 5, Jesse Ehrlich went four for five in Campbell Hall’s 16-2 win over Mary Star. Max Fried struck out 11 in Montclair Prep’s 4-2 win over Riverside Notre Dame. Paul Aldape hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth. Andrew Morovick struck out 10 and threw a two-hitter in Tahquitz’s 6-0 win over Sultana.

L.A. Cathedral defeated Duarte, 6-3. Julian Perez had a triple and two RBIs. Jaime Figueroa had two hits. Ryan Bower threw a shutout to lift Lompoc past Arroyo, 4-0.

In Division 6, Matt Saeta hit two home runs and had four RBIs in Pasdena Poly’s 11-0 win over Bloomington Christian.
