Baseball: Sylmar gets one-hitter from Juvenal Terrazas

In a City Section Division 1 wild-card playoff game, Sylmar defeated Bell, 1-0, on a one-hitter by senior Juvenal Terrazas, who also drove in the game’s only run with a first inning sacrifice fly. Sylmar advances to play No. 2 Woodland Hills El Camino Real on Tuesday.

Pinch-hitter Ricky Hernandez came through with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh to lift Granada Hills to a 3-2 victory over Marshall. Collin Dudley threw 3 1/3 innings of shutout relief. Granada Hills will play Banning in a first-round game on Tuesday.

Rigo Perez threw five shutout innings, and Robert Gsellman followed with two shutout innings as Westchester defeated Roosevelt, 3-0. Westchester will face top-seeded Chatsworth on Tuesday. In another wild-card game, Verdugo Hills defeated Garfield 4-3 to earn a Tuesday match-up with third-seeded Kennedy.
